If Only It Was The Same For Covid 19 Says Yeo Amid Scramble To Contain Umno Fallout

Former minister Yeo Bee Yin noted that the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was working "overtime" following Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's announcement that his party was pulling its support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
This was amid a flurry of activities at Muhyiddin's residence in Bukit Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, as those trying to stave off a collapse of the PN government deliberate their next course of action.
The Bakri MP pointed out that this contrasted with the government's handling of the Covid-19 pandemic and noted that it did not receive the same urgency.
"Standard operating procedures? Wait. Stimulus package? Wait. Welfare aid? Wait. Increase capacity for healthcare? Wait. (Some) 150,000 laptops (for students)? Wait. Parliament? Wait.
"Mass testing and fast tracing? Never mind. People committing suicide? Never mind. People losing jobs? Never mind. Business closing down? Never mind," Yeo (above) said in a Facebook post.
"Everything is either wait or never mind. This is the only thing that will make the cabinet ministers work overtime," she added in reference to the meetings by PN government leaders today.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi 
Umno has 38 MPs but many are opposed to Zahid's move to withdraw from the PN government.
However, with Muhyiddin only commanding a four-seat majority, a small number of the 38 MPs is enough to collapse the PN government.
Umno vice-president Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who was yesterday appointed as deputy prime minister by Muhyiddin, is a key figure in organising efforts to block Zahid.
Amid the political manoeuvrings, government hospitals in the Klang Valley are being overwhelmed as the number of active Covid-19 cases climbed above 70,000.
The Health Ministry earlier today announced wide-ranging measures to prevent the collapse of the healthcare system by opening up new facilities and field hospitals as well as providing additional oxygen supply.
