No Debate Between Rafizi Saifuddin Just A Discussion Says Anwar

Anwar Ibrahim has advised all candidates in the upcoming party polls to keep the contests clean and not to make it a personal fight.PETALING JAYA: PKR president Anwar Ibrahim says the May 11 programme involving Rafizi Ramli and Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, the two contenders in the running to be his deputy, is not a debate but a “discussion”.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman argued that the 90-minute programme titled “Berani Semuka: Siapa Layak Bersama Anwar?” was not a debate as both Saifuddin and Rafizi shared PKR’s ideology.
Anwar added that the programme should instead be used as a platform for discussion between the two party leaders.
“Debates are better suited for programmes like the upcoming one involving former prime minister Najib Razak and me, because we have vastly different thought patterns and policies.

“But in this context (the Berani Semuka programme) involving the two candidates from the same party, it’s more of a discussion on new strategies,” he said in a Sinar Harian report.
The Port Dickson MP advised all candidates in the upcoming PKR elections to read the guidelines issued by the party’s election committee.
He urged them to keep contests clean and not to make it a personal fight between candidates.
“Discussions must also be held in a friendly manner, and they must avoid raising the ‘temperature’,” he said.
The programme involving Rafizi and Saifuddin will start at 3pm on May 11 and will be aired live across all of Sinar Harian’s platforms.
It will allow Saifuddin and Rafizi, the PKR secretary-general and vice-president respectively, to test their ability in debating current issues, questions of leadership, and PKR’s future.
This is especially since the party’s elections for the 2022-2025 term are seen as an indication of who will eventually take over the PKR leadership from Anwar. - FMT
