Ngo Wants Help To Relocate Centre After Floods

Pertubuhan Kesihatan dan Kebajikan Umum Malaysia (PKKUM) founder Elisha Kor Krishnan said its office located at Jalan Raja Laut was inundated with flood waters after heavy rain.
Elisha said she has not witnessed such a scene in the five years she has been operating from the site.
She said she did not expect the centre to be affected by floods as it was not located on low ground.
“A flood is hardly something one would think of here,” she said.
She said she noticed the place was flooded at about 8.30pm when she dropped by to pick up some documents.
Elisha is also seeking the public’s help to provide assistance, financially or with manpower, to move to a more suitable site in the same area.
This is because the centre’s services are essential for the hardcore poor and minority communities around Jalan Chow Kit.
“We need to move quickly because we are providing support daily,” she said.
PKKUM serves as a drop-in centre and community clinic. Its services include religious classes, HIV prevention programmes, and providing food for the needy.
