Ngo Up In Arms Against Negri Sembilan S Proposed Genocide Of Stray Dogs In Malay Majority Areas

THE Global Human Rights Federation (GHRF) has strongly condemned the recent proposal by the Negeri Sembilan State Government to implement the culling of stray dogs specifically in Malay-majority residential areas.
The NGO described such approach as not only unethical and morally indefensible but “barbaric which could set a dangerous precedent of institutionalised discrimination under the guise of public safety”.
Targeting animals based on the racial or religious makeup of a community is an affront to the “principles of justice, compassion and equality enshrined in our national values,” berated GHRF’s founder and president S. Shashi Kumar.

Yesterday (April 30), the Negeri Sembilan state assembly has unanimously agreed that some stray dogs in predominantly Malay-Muslim residential areas should be culled to address safety concerns.
Menteri Besar Aminuddin Harun cited increasing complaints and public safety risks as reasons for the proposed culling which would be handled by local authorities in the state.
Shashi further criticised the racial framing of such policy as “dangerous” as stray dogs are not exclusive a threat to any ethnic community.
“By limiting action to so-called ‘Muslim-majority area’, the state is effectively institutionalising communal segregation in public policy. This not only alienates and divides Malaysians – it also violates the spirit of unity we claim to uphold,” lamented the social activist.

“Religious sensitivities should be respected but this cannot come at the expense of life, ethics, and fairness. As Malaysia is a multi-racial and multi-faith nation, policies must reflect inclusivity, not preference or bias.”
Added Shashi: “We will not stay silent. We will continue to speak out, take action, and fight relentlessly against cruelty and such inhumane policies.
“If this brutality continues, Malaysia will be seen and known of committing GENOCIDE against stray dogs in the eye of the world at large.” –  Focus Malaysia
