Bersatu No 2 Claims More Former Non Malay Bn Leaders Joining Bersekutu Wing

Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that many former members of Barisan Nasional (BN) had found the party appealing. —NSTP/FAIZ ANUAR.KUALA LUMPUR: Former MIC and MCA leaders have been signing up to become members of Bersatu.
Its deputy president Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said that many former members of Barisan Nasional (BN) had found the party appealing.
"There, we can already see that there is a tendency for non-bumiputras to stand with us," he said in a podcast hosted by former legal affairs minister Datuk Mohd Zaid Ibrahim.
However, when quizzed on why these leaders left BN, Hamzah said he did not know the exact reason, but he suggested that it was perhaps Perikatan Nasional (PN), which Bersatu is a part of, could elevate the voices of Malaysians as a whole.
Hamzah added that the party's associate wing, Bersekutu, was no longer viewed as mere associates, but were now considered part of the party's wing.
"Their leaders are already sitting at the same level as the vice-presidents of the party. This means, in meetings, we discuss everything. We are very inclusive. We give space for non-Malays to feel that this is not a mere coalition, but they are part and parcel of the party," he said.
Hamzah added that Bersatu had already engaged with the public to increase the members of Bersekutu.
"If we expand this and tell more people, their interest will only increase," he said in the podcast aired yesterday.
"We are all together, in one party," he added. - NST
