She said ground-breaking for the township had already taken place, and the project is expected to create job opportunities for young people in Kunak.
The GRS-led state government had successfully expanded economic opportunities for the people of Kunak, with supermarkets sprouting up “like mushrooms after the rain”, she said.
Norazlinah, 48, faces five challengers in her bid for re-election to the Kunak seat, which she won in 2020 with a 589-vote majority while contesting as a Warisan candidate.
She dismissed negative stereotypes about women, who are often labelled as overly sensitive, emotional or fussy. Norazlinah said such views are merely perceptions, not reality.
“Women are not fragile, but we are empathetic. We are not emotional but passionate and we are not fussy but meticulous,” she said.
Norazlinah said this was evident in the confidence the people of Kunak had placed in women leaders, who have shown they can shoulder responsibilities just as effectively and competently as their male counterparts.
There are 24,854 registered voters in Kunak who will choose from six candidates when polling takes place on Nov 29.
The candidates are: Norazlinah Arif (GRS-Gagasan Rakyat); Kasman Karate (PN-PAS); Roselih Lumayan (PIS); Ismu Isyam Arsad (PPRS); Anil Jeet Singh (BN-Umno); Datuk Jasa @ Ismail Rauddah (Warisan) - FMT
