N Sembilan Bn Wants Two More Seats From Harapan In State Polls

Negeri Sembilan BN, which has 16 incumbent state seats, has requested for two of Pakatan Harapan’s 20 incumbent seats to contest in the upcoming state polls.
State BN chief Jalaluddin Alias (above) confirmed the matter when contacted by Malaysiakini today.
“What has been resolved now is the status quo, that is, Harapan has 20 (seats) and BN has 16. So, we keep having meetings because I have asked them to give us an additional two seats.
“This is so that we can enter the state elections with both parties having equal 18 seats each,” he said.
The Negeri Sembilan state legislative assembly has a total of 36 seats.
However, the Jelebu MP acknowledged that it is not easy for Harapan to give away seats it has previously won.
“But, as I told my friends in Harapan, this is the time for us to make sacrifices. Give and take in the spirit of cooperation because we want our machinery to be motivated to the maximum for both Harapan and BN.
“The combination of the two forces will ensure that there will be no opposition in Negeri Sembilan,” he said.
In the 14th general election, Harapan took Negeri Sembilan for the first time with 20 seats.
After the formation of the unity government at the federal level saw the cooperation of Harapan and BN, the two parties will work together in the upcoming state polls against Perikatan Nasional.
Meanwhile, Jalaluddin said BN has also asked for one state seat under the Seremban parliamentary constituency.
“This is because we do not have a seat in Seremban. So there must be a BN representative in Seremban.
“Every parliamentary constituency should have a representative from each party (in the coalition),” he said.
He also added that the seat negotiations for Negeri Sembilan have almost wrapped up but said they will leave the final decision to the top leadership at the federal level.
“We will leave it to the presidential council to make the final decision. I think latest within the next two weeks or by the end of June, a decision will definitely be made,” he said. - Mkini
