Muhyiddin S Support For A Two State Solution Draws Flak
Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin's support for a "two-state solution" to end hostilities between Israel and Palestine has courted flak.
Muhyiddin had, in a special televised address on May 15, voiced Malaysia's support for a "two-state solution" based on pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as the capital of Palestine.
Terengganu Amanah chief Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad (above) said the position undertaken by Muhyiddin was "shameful" and showed that the government was not following recent developments.
"The concept behind the original two-state solution involved the right of Palestinians to return to their homeland.
"However, the whole world knows that Israel had denied that right by continuing to steal land in Palestine and build houses for Israelis on that land," Raja Kamarul said.
Moreover, he said, Israel was erecting walls in the occupied West Bank and practising an apartheid policy.
"What sort of two-state solution is Muhyiddin talking about? The entire world knows that the two-state solution is dead and buried due to actions of Israel and their allies, including the US," Raja Kamarul added.

Similarly, Yayasan Ikhlas chairperson Zainur Rashid Zainuddin urged the government to be wary of Israeli rhetoric concerning the two-state solution, which was gaining traction among Israel's new allies - Bahrain, Jordan, Sudan, Morocco and the United Arab Emirates.
Zainur claimed that their next targets are Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Indonesia and Malaysia.
Raja Kamarul also lashed out at Malaysia's special envoy to the Middle East, Abdul Hadi Awang, for failing to persuade Muhyiddin against supporting the two-state solution.
"Previously, the special envoy was staunchly against the two-state solution (but he is now allied with) a prime minister who supports it," he said.
Violence flared up again in the Israel and Palestinian territories in recent weeks, with deaths on both sides. - Mkini
