Muda Leadership S Illegal Demonstrations Delayed Party Registration Minister

Home Minister Hamzah Zainudin claimed the delay in permitting the registration of the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) party was due to legal offences committed by the party's leadership.
He said that was why the government had to postpone Muda's registration.
"Muda president Syed Saddiq (Syed Abdul Rahman) has met me. He really asked and I have advised him.
“The problem that I had to reject (Muda's registration) is because of the Societies Act. We do not allow any member or member of the sponsoring committee - any person who wants to form a new party - to break the law in the country.
“But they have committed many mistakes such as doing demonstrations and doing things that violate the country's laws.
"So, according to the act, I had to decline approval because many of their sponsoring committee members are individuals who committed wrongdoing," he said.
Hamzah (above) was speaking when met by reporters after the opening of the fourth Bersatu Annual General Assembly in Kuala Lumpur today.
On Sept 17 last year, Muda applied to the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to register itself as a political party but was rejected on Jan 6 this year.
On Feb 4, Muda appealed to Hamzah following the rejection.
However, on Aug 11, Hamzah in a letter rejected the appeal for the party's registration without stating any reason for the rejection.

On Sept 21, a High Court judge allowed Syed Saddiq to file a legal review of Hamzah's rejection of Muda's application.
On Dec 14, the High Court finally ordered the Home Ministry to allow Muda to be registered as a political party within 14 days, as well as pay costs of RM10,000.
Commenting on the matter, Hamzah, who is also Bersatu secretary-general, said, "the court has decided to give an opportunity and it is said that it is the right of any (party) to form a party.
"I have already discussed this matter with my party president (Muhyiddin Yassin) and also discussed with prime minister (Ismail Sabri Yaakob).
"I will make an announcement on Monday, God willing," he said.- Mkini
