Muafakat Nasional S Registration Will Take Some Time Annuar Musa
Muafakat Nasional’s formal registration with the Registrar of Societies (ROS) is expected to take some time, said the coalition's Secretary-General Annuar Musa.
Annuar (above), who is also the BN secretary-general, said this is because more time is needed to prepare the necessary documents.
“Members would have to sit together, draft the constitution, create a logo, and decide the system to be put in place.
“All that needs to be negotiated. It also requires approval from every component party and it takes time,” he told Malaysiakini today when asked when will Muafakat be registered.
Umno and PAS yesterday agreed to formally register Muafakat with the ROS. This was jointly announced by Annuar and Muafakat Secretary-General II Takiyuddin Hassan.
According to their statement, Muafakat said its leadership has reached a consensus to strengthen unity and cooperation between the parties in preparation for the next general election.
The statement was silent on Bersatu’s status and whether it has been accepted into the coalition. Last August, Bersatu had accepted an invitation to join the coalition.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin had nonetheless hinted that Muafakat would become a ‘grand coalition’ that supports Perikatan Nasional – an idea that has received open criticism from some Umno leaders.
Nevertheless, Annuar said all the necessary processes to register Muafakat was already underway.
“Work in that direction has already started,” he said, without elaborating on when it was expected to be completed. - Mkini
