Mrt Corp Doing Detailed Study Of Circle Line Alignment
The MRT3 Circle Line, which will run along the perimeter of Kuala Lumpur is scheduled to be fully operational by 2030.PETALING JAYA: Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) is conducting a “more detailed and comprehensive study” on the alignment of the proposed MRT Circle Line (MRT3).
Replying to a question on Twitter today, MRT Corp said the study included the suitability of realignment to minimise social impact on the public, especially due to land acquisition.
“Upon completion of the said study, MRT Corp will conduct a public inspection of the MRT3 railway scheme for a period of three months, where information about the proposed MRT3 project will be displayed in selected locations,” it said.
“Members of the public will be able to view detailed information on the proposed MRT3 project and are encouraged to provide their feedback.”
MRT Corp was responding to a tweet by @khailoren, who wanted to know whether the MRT3’s AU2 station in Taman Keramat had been finalised or was still being studied.
Residents in various parts of Kuala Lumpur and Selangor have expressed concern about the Circle Line’s route over fears they would have to vacate their homes.
MRT Corp previously described the Circle Line project, which is estimated to cost RM50.2 billion, as the “critical final piece” to complete Kuala Lumpur’s urban rail network.
Its proposed 51km alignment will run along the perimeter of Kuala Lumpur and will be connected to MRT, LRT, KTM and Monorail lines through 10 interchange stations. - FMT
