Mps To Raise Questions On Mco Re Implementation Prices Of Goods

(Bernama pic)KUALA LUMPUR: The re-implementation of the movement control order (MCO) and its impact on the prices of goods are among issues that will be discussed in Parliament today.
According to the Order Paper, these issues and one on road repairs will be among the questions during the Ministers’ Question Time.
Shahidan Kassim (BN-Arau) will ask the prime minister why the government has not re-implemented an MCO, given the increase in Covid-19 cases, especially in Sabah and several areas of the peninsula classified as red zones.
Cha Kee Chin (PH-Rasah) wants the domestic trade and consumer affairs minister to state the impact of Covid-19 and the implementation of the MCO, enhanced MCO and recovery MCO on the prices of goods.
Abdul Azeez Abdul Rahim (BN-Baling) will ask the senior works minister on steps to be taken to handle complaints on road repairs by contractors which may have resulted in damage to property and loss of lives.
During the oral question-and-answer session, issues related to the amendment of Article 145 of the Federal Constitution and the impact of the boycott on the country’s palm oil products are expected to be raised.
Khalid Abd Samad (PH-Shah Alam) will question the prime minister on whether the government has plans to separate the powers and functions of public prosecutors from the Attorney-General’s Chambers to ensure more transparent power for prosecutors.
There will also be a question from Jalaluddin Alias (BN-Jelebu) to the plantation industries and commodities minister on the effect of the US ban on palm oil products by Felda Global Ventures (FGV) on exports of the commodity this year.
The Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Bill 2020, Factories and Machinery (Repeal) Bill 2020, Malaysian Space Board Bill 2020 and Independent Police Conduct Commission Bill 2020 will also be tabled for second reading today.
Finance Minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz is scheduled to table the 2021 budget tomorrow. - FMT
