Motorcyclist Assaults Snatches Gold Bracelet From Woman In Simpang Pulai
IPOH: A 62-year-old woman was assaulted and had her gold bracelet snatched by a motorcyclist in Simpang Pulai.
Acting Ipoh OCPD Superintendent Mohamad Sajidan Abdul Sukor said the police received a report of the incident at about 1.35pm on Tuesday (Feb 25).
Supt Mohamad Sajidan said the police had earlier found a video of the incident that had gone viral on social media.
"Initial investigation found that the woman was beaten up and had her gold bracelet snatched by the suspect.
"The case is being investigated under Section 394 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt while committing a robbery," he said in a statement on Tuesday.
"The police are now on the manhunt for the suspect," he added.
Supt Mohamad Sajidan stated that anyone with information regarding the matter should visit the nearest police station or contact the investigating officer, Insp Fatin Nur Nazihah, at 019-636 3536.
"The people are also advised not to take actions into their own hands or speculate on the case, which may cause confusion or anxiety among the public," he said.
According to the woman's daughter, Lee Lee San, the incident took place in front of their home in Bandar Cyber Botani at about 9.40am.
Lee, a 35-year-old account executive, said the suspect had first approached her house gate on the pretext of delivering food.
"I told him that we didn't order any food, but he tried to get me to open the door.
"Shortly after, my mother came back in her car, and he left on his motorcycle," said Lee.
"He then rode his motorcycle next to my mother's car and began kicking and hitting my mother.
"He also tried to pull her handbag and drag her out of the car while I screamed before he sped away," she added.
Lee said the entire incident was caught by her house's close-circuit television (CCTV).
"My mother suffered injuries to her head, arms, hands, waist and legs.
"I have contacted the e-hailing service provider, providing the number plate of the motorcycle to them, and was told that they would investigate the matter," she said.
"I urge the public to be vigilant on such incidents and not to fall victim," she added. - Star
