More Local Emco Lockdowns In Four States
The EMCO in several localities in Sabah, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang will be from July 19 to Aug 1.PETALING JAYA: Several localities in Sabah, Sarawak, Negeri Sembilan and Pahang will be placed under EMCO from July 19 to Aug 1 due to a spike in Covid-19 cases.
In a statement today, deputy prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said that in Sabah, the Seri Maju apartment in Kota Kinabalu; Kampung Tinusa 2 in Sandakan; and the QL breeder farm and Onika quarry workers quarters in Tawau will be placed under EMCO.
In Sarawak, Kampung Garung and Kampung Pasir Hilir, both in Kuching, will be under a lockdown.
Meanwhile, four localities in Negeri Sembilan’s Rembau district will be placed under EMCO: Taman Chembong Utama, Taman Chembong Jaya, Taman Setia Raja and Taman KSNS.
Two areas in Pahang will be put under a lockdown – Pos Iskandar in Bera and Kuala Medang in Lipis.
EMCO extensions
He also said the EMCO in several areas across the country would be extended from tomorrow to Aug 1.
In Kuala Muda, Kedah, the lockdown will be extended in Taman Bandar Baru Sungai Lalang, Taman Lembah Permai and the Bakar Arang industrial area.
In Sabah, the lockdown will be extended at Taman Zifa in Beaufort and Kampung Simpangan in Kota Marudu.
The lockdown will also be extended at Kampung Bukit Tanah in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan.
MCO offences
Meanwhile, 4,524 compliance task force teams were deployed to conduct checks on 82,402 premises yesterday.
A total of 433 people were arrested for flouting SOPs, with 408 of them issued compound notices and 25 remanded.
The authorities also detained 39 undocumented migrants yesterday as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign. Four vehicles were also seized.
On mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 249,925 people who arrived at KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 last year to July 16 this year and were placed under quarantine.
A total of 3,297 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 237,454 have been allowed to return home.
Some 9,174 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
