More False Alarm On Kidnapping Attempts This Time In Gombak

The police denied more reports about alleged kidnapping attempts involving schoolchildren - this time in Gombak, Selangor.
Gombak acting police chief Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir, in a statement today, said they received three reports about attempted kidnapping at three schools in the district.
The reports were lodged by two local women aged 32 and 38, and a local man aged 43, he stated.
"In all three reports, the complainants alleged that their children - two of them aged 9, and another aged 7, were almost kidnapped by men outside their respective schools.
"The incidents allegedly happened after schooling hours, when the school compounds were filled with school buses, and parents waiting to fetch their children.
“We have spoken to the complainant, the children involved, their friends, as well as the security guard, traffic warden, the headmaster and even viewed CCTV footages, and found that such incident did not happen," said Noor Ariffin.
Stop spreading unverified news
Noor Ariffin further urged the public and media to not spread and disseminate unverified news that can threaten public order.
"The sharing of fake news can be punished under Section 505 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.
Of late, there have been claims of attempted kidnappings of schoolchildren in several states around the country.
Yesterday, a retiree lodged a police report on the alleged kidnapping attempt of his child, but later withdrew it after finding that the claims were untrue.
Previously, Kelantan police chief Muhamad Zaki Harun had said that there was no basis for such reports and urged the public to stop sharing unverified news as it could cause public unease. - Mkini
