Mckk Bullying Case Cops Propose Suspects Be Charged In Court

Police have proposed that suspects in a bullying case at Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) in Perak should be charged for their crimes in court.
According to Perak police chief Yusri Hassan Basri, the suggestion was made by the state police when they submitted the case investigation paper to the Attorney-General's Chambers last week.
He told Malaysiakini that police resubmitted the paper after they obtained a full medical report from the Kuala Kangsar Hospital.
"On the MCKK case, we have obtained the full medical report and the investigation paper was referred to the state prosecution office on Nov 24.
"The paper was later submitted to the AGC in Putrajaya on Nov 30," Yusri (above) said in a text message.
Malaysiakini contacted the police chief to get the latest update on the case.
When asked if police had proposed for the case to be charged in court, Yusri replied with a "yes" but did not elaborate.
Previously, Malaysiakini reported that a Form 4 MCKK student was seriously injured when he was attacked by a group of school seniors in September.
His family had urged the school to expel those responsible.
Following this, Kuala Kangsar district police chief Omar Bakhtiar Yaacob issued a statement saying that police have recorded statements from the victim, his alleged attackers, and other witnesses to facilitate the probe.
On Nov 8, Yusri confirmed that the case was being investigated under Section 323 of the Penal Code and investigators have forwarded their findings to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions.
Section 323 of the Penal Code stipulates offences related to voluntarily causing hurt. It carries a punishment of imprisonment up to one year, or a maximum fine of RM2,000, or both. - Mkini
