Man Seriously Wounded After Being Slashed By Three Over Missing Magpie
A man was seriously wounded yesterday after he was attacked by three others with a machete and a sword while investigating his missing magpie near Kampung Pauh Jabit, Bachok, Kelantan.
The incident caused Mohd Roslaidi Arifin, 42, to have his right thumb severed and he also sustained injuries to his head, calf, and knee.
Bachok District police chief Mohd Ismail Jamaluddin said police received a distress call about the incident around 5.35pm yesterday.
Based on the initial reports, he said the victim was attacked by three men, two of whom were known to the victim.
“During the investigation, a 27-year-old friend of the victim, who was accompanying him, disclosed that the incident happened after the victim wanted to find a man to discuss his missing magpie, which he believed was stolen two days ago.
“However, no police report was made regarding the missing magpie,” Ismail told Malaysiakini today.
He said the victim went to one of the houses of the three assailants but couldn’t find the man he was looking for.
The victim then handcuffed one of the three suspects to take hostage, Ismail added.
“As a result, the victim was attacked and wounded by the three suspects using a machete and a sword.”
The victim was later sent to Universiti Sains Malaysia Hospital in Kubang Kerian for treatment.
Police have identified all three suspects and will apprehend them soon.
“The case is being investigated under Section 326 of the Penal Code (for voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),” Ismail added. - Mkini
