Tanah Rata assemblyman Ho Chi Yang and a group of about 50 farmers, lorry operators and residents gathered at Kea Farm, Cameron Highlands, to protest against the ban.PETALING JAYA: A DAP assemblyman has called on the Pahang government to make public the key performance indicators (KPIs) for the commercial vehicle ban in the area to gauge its effectiveness.
Ho Chi Yang said if the ban had been ineffective, the government should immediately scrap it to stop disruptions to the vegetable supply chain.
The ban, which came into effect on June 16, applies to commercial vehicles like vegetable trucks.

It was previously reported that the Pahang government had applied to the federal government for the ban.
It is understood the ban was imposed to reduce traffic congestion in the area during peak travel periods.
Initially, the works ministry announced that commercial vehicles would be barred from using part of the federal road in Cameron Highlands from Feb 7.
However, works minister Alexander Nanta Linggi said the ban was enforced from early this month.
Earlier today, Ho joined a group of about 50 farmers, logistic operators and residents at Kea Farm, Cameron Highlands, to protest against the ban.
Ads by KioskedHo said in the three weeks since the ban had been in place, it was clear that it had done little to resolve the traffic congestion in Cameron Highlands.
“Instead, farmers, lorry operators and small businesses have been badly affected by the ban due to disruption in the logistics.
“The Hari Raya Aidiladha holiday and weekend have proven that the traffic jams in Cameron Highlands are still severe, regardless of whether vegetable or commercial vehicles are on the road,” the Tanah Rata representative said. - FMT
