Look In The Mirror Fahmi Tells Pas Over Alarmist Claim
Fahmi Fadzil (left) takes Takiyuddin Hassan to task and tells PAS to instead focus on paying its debt to the former printers of its mouthpiece, Harakah.KUALA LUMPUR: Government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil has come to Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s defence after PAS labelled Anwar’s claim of receiving threats for criticising Israel as being “alarmist”.
Fahmi, who is also communications and digital minister, said PAS as a party itself is also “quite an alarmist” for its actions during election campaigns.
“We have seen over the past few months, particularly leading up to the state elections, how (PAS claimed that) voting for certain parties would lead to all hell breaking loose throughout the country. However, this hasn’t happened,” Fahmi said in a press conference after the launching of Digital Nasional Bhd’s (DNB) My5G Portal.
Earlier today, PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said if such threats existed or had been made, then Anwar should have summoned the respective ambassadors to issue a diplomatic note of protest.
Fahmi said Takiyuddin should “take a look in the mirror” at PAS’s behaviour, adding that the Islamic party should instead focus on paying its debt to the former printers of its mouthpiece, Harakah.
Last week, Malaysiakini reported that Harakah’s former printers, Angkatan Edaran Enterprise Sdn Bhd and NAJ Press Resources (M) Sdn Bhd, slammed PAS for living a “lavish lifestyle” while the companies still have not received outstanding payment years after the party’s official mouthpiece fell into debt.
On Tuesday, PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the party has requested the printing companies to await the court’s decision regarding the debt. - FMT
