The End Is Near Tuan Ibrahim Jests Of Pas Position In Opposition
PAS deputy president Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man poked fun at the party’s fortunes last night, saying it might be a sign that the end of days is near.
This is after the party ended up in the opposition despite winning the most seats in its electoral history during the 15th general election.
“When we had 18 seats (in Parliament), we were in government.
“But when we have even more seats, we are in the opposition.
“This is a sign that judgement day is near,” he quipped when officiating at the launch of the PAS Youth muktamar (assembly) in Shah Alam last night.
He delivered the last line with a straight face but the audience responded with laughter.
‘Just a matter of time’
PAS became part of the federal government in 2020 when it joined forces with Bersatu - which had defected from Pakatan Harapan - and others to form the Perikatan Nasional government.
It stayed in government until the fourth quarter of 2022 when the 15th general election was called and ended with Harapan forming a coalition government - which PN refused to join.
However, Tuan Ibrahim told delegates at the PAS Youth meeting last night that the party’s return to Putrajaya was just a matter of time.
“We have a chance to head the federal government not long from now.
“PAS together with PN will head the government in the future,” he said.
He added that he had met with many diplomats whom he claimed said the future of Malaysia rests with PN and PAS.
“So, we must be ready to head the government, and (PAS) Youth must fulfil this and be with the party leadership to head the government,” he said.
