DAP’s Kelvin Yii said the Pakatan Harapan government had put in place many institutional reforms.PETALING JAYA: Umno Supreme Council member Isham Jalil should “look in the mirror” before criticising Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Perikatan Nasional, a DAP leader said.
Kelvin Yii said Barisan Nasional was responsible for the institutional problems in the country.
“This is on top of them empowering and endorsing ‘frogs’ in the Sheraton Move,” the former Bandar Kuching MP said in a statement, referring to the term used to describe defectors.
The Sheraton Move saw Bersatu and a faction of PKR MPs, led by Azmin Ali, quit the coalition, leading to the collapse of the PH government in 2020.

Muhyiddin Yassin was subsequently appointed the prime minister of a government comprising PAS, Umno and Bersatu representatives, among others.
Yii said while BN continued to harp on PH’s unfulfilled promises in its 22 months in power, the former was guilty of breaking so many of its promises during its 61-year reign.
PH, the DAP Youth chief said, had put in place many important institutional reforms and policies that had improved the country’s standing in the Corruption Perception Index, Freedom of Media Index, Democratic Index and many more.
Yii said this in response to claims by Isham that young voters would back BN in the 15th general election as they were unhappy that PH had failed to deliver on promises made in its 2018 manifesto. Isham also said that they were unlikely to vote for PN as it was a coalition made up of party hoppers.
Yii said that young voters were in favour of policies that provided economic security as well as employment.
