Let Khairy Run In Seremban
Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is welcomed to contest in Seremban in the next general election (GE15) if he is interested. -BERNAMA PICSEREMBAN: Health Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is welcomed to contest in Seremban in the next general election (GE15) if he is interested.
Seremban Umno Youth Chief Zool Amali Hussin, hoped senior party leaders would look at the proposal positively.
Khairy, currently the Rembau Member of Parliament, revealed that he had to give way to Barisan Nasional (BN) Deputy Chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan to contest the seat in GE15.
Khairy said he was told to make way for Mohamad who is seeking to contest the Rembau Parliamentary seat, besides defending his own Rantau state seat.
"I really hope and welcome Khairy to contest in the Seremban Parliamentary seat, considering the increasing number of young Malay voters here.
"Hopefully, the party leadership will realise Umno's dream to contest in the Seremban Parliamentary constituency by giving way to Khairy as a candidate," he said in a statement here today.
Zool Amali said that the wish for Khairy to contest in Seremban had been expressed before, including at the grassroots level and to senior party leadership.
"We all know that Rembau will definitely belong to Tok Mat (Mohamad) in the next election. For me, Tok Mat and Khairy are the most famous leaders born in Umno.
"It will be a significant loss if Khairy does not run in GE15," he said on the proposal for Umno to run in the Seremban Parliamentary constituency, which has been a traditional MCA seat.
In the last General Election (GE14), the Seremban Parliamentary seat was won by DAP's Anthony Loke Siew Fook with a majority of 30,694 votes. - NST
