His name was Gary.
You might relate to his story.
He was a chemical engineer, and not long ago had an amazing job with great benefits.
He was also a father of two and had a lot of responsibilities to take care of.
One day, without further notice…
He was told to pack his things and leave the company.
At first, he wasn’t that worried about it.
After all, he had a master’s degree from a very prestigious college and 10+ years of experience as a chemical engineer.
So he thought it wouldn’t be so hard to find another job.
But time passed, and nothing happened.
He applied for a number of different roles, all without success.
Every time, he got rejected for a different reason:
He was overqualified.
Underqualified.
The company didn’t need this position filled anymore.
The market was limited.
You name it…
And in the meantime, bills started stacking over.
His savings started drying up.
Then, the worst thing happened.
One day when he got home with his wife and his two children…
He saw a white paper stuck to the front door.
It was an eviction notice.
The bank was notifying him that he was late on payments for his mortgage, and if he didn’t catch up, they’d sell his house.
He had six months at the latest to find a new job and start paying his debt with the bank.
And if he couldn’t pull that through, his family would be homeless.
“That’s when I hit rock bottom” – he told me-.
“I waited until my kids and my wife were asleep. Then I just sat on my couch and started crying. I mean… I could barely put food on the table. Where was I supposed to get the money to pay for such a big debt?”
Around that time is when we met.
He told me about what he was going through, and I decided to take him as a student.
After seeing his case, the answer was clear.
At that moment, there was just not enough demand for his profession in the job market.
So trying to get a job in this field wasn’t the solution to stop being evicted.
He also didn’t have the time to go to college and get a degree in something else.
If he wanted to get out of that situation…
He needed to learn a skill that would earn him enough money to pay for his debt in 6 months or less.
That’s when we sat down and got ourselves to work.
The first thing was to find out which skill he could develop that he was both passionate about and had high salaries.
As it turned out, for most of the companies he worked with as a chemical engineer, he also worked with computers a lot.
So the skill he chose was coding.
Then, we researched what specific coding skills companies were hiring and paying the most for.
The final step was to create a system that allowed him to master these skills in half the time it usually would take.
And so we did.
What happened next was nothing but amazing .
What usually takes 6 months for a programmer to learn…
Gary was able to get it in just three months!
And because he specialized in a very specific programming language, he didn’t just get a new job offer.
He got four!
Out of those, he decided to work remotely for a big tech company in Palo Alto, CA.
A Six figure job!
Shortly after, he was able to pay for his mortgage in full.
Last time we spoke, he was already thinking about selling that house and buying a new one.
