Learn From Mahkota Voters Dap Leader Tells Dungu Politicians
A DAP leader called for an end to clashes between Pakatan Harapan and BN, stressing that politicians should learn from voters who support their cooperation.
Taking to Facebook, Johor DAP vice-chief Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali said voters were convinced to support the Madani government which led to their victory in the recent Mahkota polls.
This was despite questions raised on Harapan-BN ties during the by-election campaign trail, he noted.
“So we as politicians, it can’t be that we are more dungu (dense) than the ordinary folks?
ADS“It has not even been a week since we won (in Mahkota), already we’re bringing out knives, parang, bullets, and pistols? To shoot among ourselves? To shoot our own feet?
“That’s shameful… be ashamed of doing this in front of the people. They are observing us. During campaigning, everything was rosy. Differences can be set aside and look at the bigger objective for the people.

While Sheikh Umar did not single out any leaders, the Madani coalition’s landslide win sparked a salvo of friendly fire between BN and Harapan parties, including on Chinese voter turnout and forming a coalition government in Johor.
ADSAmong others, Johor BN deputy chief Nur Jazlan Mohamed said no single party from BN or Harapan can claim to be the “backbone” of the coalition government and so Harapan should apologise to Umno for the decades of allegations which shaped a negative perception among voters.
Harapan leaders, in response, said BN should be thanking Harapan for giving them a lifeline.
Stop shooting, attacking
Commenting further, Sheikh Umar said any weakness identified during the Mahkota campaign was part and parcel of going through an election and could be resolved in the spirit of cooperation.
“That is why, for me, if Harapan and BN are sincere to cooperate, stop the ongoing verbal spats. Stop the shooting and attacking.
“I see the top leaders from Harapan and BN have not said anything, but those at the bottom are already ‘raising chairs and tables’ in battle,” said the former Paloh assemblyperson.
Earlier today, Umno Veterans’ Club secretary Mustapha Yaakub expressed concerns that clashes between parties in the government could impact preparations for the 16th general election. - Mkini
