The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) here has the most Covid-19 patients with bed usage recorded at 80.2 per cent. - NSTP/MALAI ROSMAH TUAH.KOTA KINABALU: The Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) here has the most Covid-19 patients with bed usage recorded at 80.2 per cent.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said there were 393 individuals undergoing treatment at the hospital as of Jan 25.
The QEH is among eight government hospitals in the state treating Covid-19 patients.
Apart from QEH, the Likas Women and Children Hospital here had 84 Covid-19 patients with bed usage at 58.3 per cent.
Others are Lahad Datu Hospital (128 patients, 91.4 per cent bed usage); Keningau Hospital (36 patients, 80 per cent bed usage); Kota Marudu Hospital (9 patients, 75 per cent bed usage); Sandakan's Duchess of Kent Hospital (87 patients; 68 per cent bed usage); Tawau Hospital (151 patients, 62.1 per cent bed usage); Semporna Hospital (30 patients, 39.5 per cent bed usage); and Kudat Hospital (7 patients, 24.1 per cent bed usage).
On overall bed capacity, Masidi said Sabah had 6,798 beds for patients in hospitals (1,106 units), public low-risk quarantine centres (4,592 units), and temporary detention centres/prison (1,100 units).
The percentage of bed usage today stood at 39.9 per cent of the overall capacity.
Today, Sabah recorded 348 new infections and three deaths, while 400 patients have been discharged from hospitals after recovering from the coronavirus.
The state also recorded a new cluster dubbed Industri Apas in Tawau, with two new cases today, bringing the total of cumulative cases to 22.
On the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for Chinese New Year celebration, Masidi said the National Unity Ministry and National Security Council would be updating and gazetting the SOP.
"The SOP for Chinese New Year Celebration will also apply to Sabah. If we look at the (Covid-19) figure, it's obvious we are still in a situation where we need to be cautious. The national number of new cases is still in the thousand, and Sabah is recording three figures.
"I believe the SOP for Chinese New Year is being considered and it will reflect the seriousness of Covid-19 infection in Malaysia and our effort to combat the infection." - NST
