Kj Looking For A Club Following Umno Expulsion

Khairy Jamaluddin has not ruled out the possibility of contesting in the upcoming state elections, following his recent sacking from Umno.
According to the former health minister, he’s in the midst of shopping for offers, of which he has had several following recent developments.
“All options are on the table, or I could give it a miss and come back at a later date.
“It’s 23 years of your life in one party, it’s difficult to move on. I didn’t leave (Umno), I was sacked. I will need to adjust to the reality and choose another vehicle very carefully,” he told an interview with BFM this morning.
He was asked whether he would contest in the state polls as a member of another political party or as an independent.
Khairy JamaluddinKhairy said he had received a slew of offers following his expulsion from Umno, ranging from political parties to corporate roles.
“I’ll decide and announce in due cause. I love football, (so this is like a) free transfer. I’m looking for a club, scanning my options, and seeing what makes sense moving forward,” he quipped.
Must align with own vision
Asked about what criteria he was looking for in joining another political party, Khairy said it must be something that aligns with his own vision for the country, which is being inclusive and progressive, and pertains to good governance.
“It must be a comfortable fit, there has to be chemistry. Joining a new political party must be awkward at first, as you could have been at loggerheads at one point in time, but that’s what politics is about - winning people over.”
Khairy quipped that there is no shortage of “lunch invitations” for him this week and the next.
“I will listen to everyone who wants to see me, but I’m in no rush to decide.”
Asked whether starting his own party was in the cards, Khairy said it is indeed an option besides joining an existing political party.
“Right now, I’m in listening mode. I will listen to what people have to say.”
Khairy opined that the recent sackings and suspensions would impact Umno’s performance in the upcoming state elections as the public’s reaction to the episode has been negative.
He added that he was “less sanguine” about Umno's future prospects as the party needs a “complete overhaul”, starting with its leadership, to recover from its disastrous performance in GE15. - Mkini
