Kindergarten, child care to reopen for working parents in Phase One and Two
A new set of restrictions have been lifted under several Phases of the National Recovery Plan (NRP) to be effective from September 17, announced Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
In a statement, he said that kindergartens, day care centres, nurseries and mind development centres will be allowed to open in Phases One and Two to service children whose parents are both working.
“Operators and workers in these centres must be fully vaccinated before being allowed to operate,” he said.
Furthermore, under Phase One, more shops have been allowed to open under the conditions prescribed by existing Covid-19 vaccine rules.
These include shops offering photography services and products, used items, antiques, toys, carpets, handicrafts and gifts as well as creative content and creative industry tools.
Also, shops selling outdoor equipment (such as camping and fishing equipment), tobacco shops (including those selling vapes and electronic cigarettes), florists and plant nurseries, as well as shops selling cosmetics, skincare and perfumes are allowed to open in Phase One.
Meanwhile, in Phase Two states, all private offices are allowed to open with limits to worker capacity.
“Offices are allowed to operate at 100 per cent worker capacity if 80 per cent of workers are fully vaccinated,” said Ismail Sabri.
Similarly, offices are allowed to operate at 80 per cent capacity if 60 per cent of workers are fully vaccinated, and at 60 per cent capacity if only 40 per cent of their workers are fully vaccinated.
Worker transport vehicles will be allowed to operate at 100 per cent capacity but are limited only to passengers who are fully vaccinated.
Also allowed to open in Phase Two are furniture factories, as well as marine and air transport training centres.
For Phases Two, Three and Four, work-related in-person meetings are now allowed for those who are fully vaccinated. MM
