Khairuddin Pas Throws Mature Political Policy Into South China Sea
Kuala Nerus MP Khairuddin Aman Razali has renewed his criticism for his party, following PAS' performance in the Johor state election.
He asserted that PAS’ mature and prosperous political culture has now been thrown deep into the South China Sea.
"It must be accepted that the hardline attacks by the main leaders of PAS and Perikatan Nasional against Umno or BN, which are still PAS' consensus partners through Muafakat Nasional, have swayed those on the fence to not vote for PAS and Perikatan Nasional.
“The attacks are also far from attracting BN supporters to support PN.
"PAS' mature and prosperous political culture, which is the party's policy, has been thrown deep into the South China Sea," he said in a post on Facebook today.
Previously, the former PAS Syura Ulama Council secretary had discouraged his party leadership from attacking opponents while campaigning in the recent Johor state election.
This was after several party leaders came forward to hit out at Umno’s leadership - including using names like 'bandit' and 'robber'.
PAS, which participated in the election alongside PN, only won one seat out of the 15 seats contested.
Kuala Nerus MP Khairuddin Aman RazaliKhairuddin also said that this reality definitely would not be admitted by PAS’ leadership in the post-mortem of the election.
He said the denial syndrome and (the act of) sweeping things under the carpet if left unchecked, will kill the party one day.
"Wala (loyalty) and obedience should not turn off reflection and criticism. Criticism is not a rebellion against wala.
"Open criticism should be accepted when internal reprimands through closed meetings are no longer heeded and even leaked to the public, slandering those who reprimand," he said.
Khairuddin was previously removed from his post as a PAS central committee member.
The sacking came less than two months after he was appointed as a central committee member.
Khairuddin was appointed to the position after he was defeated in the party polls last November.
Khairuddin is among a group of leaders who are opposed to party president Abdul Hadi Awang's strategy of forging stronger ties with Bersatu under the PN banner, which is causing tension with Umno.
They prefer the Islamist party to consolidate their alliance with Umno under Muafakat.
Other leaders aligned with Khairuddin include Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz and Mohd Zuhdi Marzuki.
Kepong MP Lim Lip EngAlleged talks with Harapan
In a related matter, Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng has responded to Khairuddin’s remark on the alleged proposal for the formation of a political arrangement between PN and Pakatan Harapan.
“I would like to say that the allegation by Khairuddin that there is a proposal for Harapan to hold seat negotiations with PN to oppose BN in the Johor state election is a mere fairy tale and not grounded,” he said in a statement.
Additionally, Lim alleged that many PN-aligned MPs and state assemblypersons now want to join Umno in order to remain in power.
“I would also like to say that from the information I received after PN lost badly in the Johor election, most MPs and state assemblypersons from PN, especially ministers and deputy ministers, want to join Umno to save their positions in government and remain in power.
“This is because they are aware that the people are fed up with PN who are power-crazy and only care about their own pockets,” Lim added.
Yesterday, Khairuddin had claimed that PAS had flat out rejected the suggestion and hoped the matter wouldn't be revisited.
Khairuddin said those favouring the proposal had pointed out that seats such as Bukit Pasir, Serom and Tenggaroh could have been won if the two coalitions cooperated.
However, Kahiruddin said it was a matter of principle that PN does not cooperate with Harapan. - Mkini
