Kedah Braces For New Mb As Mukhriz S Position Uncertain

Kedah is bracing for a new menteri besar now that the position of Bersatu president Mukhriz Mahathir appeared precarious
Mukhriz said yesterday he was prepared to face disciplinary action from Bersatu for not supporting current prime minister and acting party chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin
With the ongoing political crisis, appeals are going out to Bersatu Kedah members to stand by Mukhriz and his father, former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad
In his appeal letter, Major (R) Anuar Abdul Hamid (photo), who is the party's state deputy chief, said the situation does not look good for Bersatu
"Last week, we settled everything nicely and the Kedah Sultan was happy with Pakatan Harapan and Bersatu," the party's Merbok chief said
"But things appear to be changing. PAS is making their bid for the top post as they need only two assemblypersons from (Pakatan) Harapan to cross over and take over Kedah," Anuar told Malaysiakini
It is learnt that PAS is promoting their state deputy commissioner and Jeneri assemblyperson Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor as their menteri besar candidate to replace Mukhriz
PAS can easily seize the state government as they have the most seats (15), followed by PKR (7), Bersatu (6), Amanah (4), Umno (2) and DAP (2)
Anuar also urged Kedah Bersatu members to state whether they are with Mahathir or otherwise
Anuar, who is in Mahathir's camp, reminded his comrades about their struggles with Harapan and the formation of Bersatu
"We were against corrupt leaders, thieves, robbers and the kleptocrat government. Allah had blessed our struggles then
"Today, there are traitors who are willing to collaborate with the father of robbers, let's get rid of them," he added
Muhyiddin took office today as the eighth prime minister after a week of political turmoil which saw Mahathir quitting his PM post
Mahathir's government collapsed after Bersatu pulled out from Harapan
