Kampar Hospital Dressing Down Resolved Says Perak Health Exco

KAMPAR: The issue of a woman being scolded by Kampar Hospital staff has been settled, says Perak Health committee chairman A. Sivanesan.
He said that this is the first complaint that this hospital has received about the dress code.
“I will be meeting with the patient and the staff member who were involved,” said Sivanesan.
He added that the Feb 12 incident has sparked a debate about the hospital's dress code.
“Someone asked me if a person needs to change out of his swimming attire before going to the hospital if he had a heart attack in the pool. The hospital will be sensible,” said Sivanesan.
“Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa and Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah have already issued a statement, we have all agreed that no patient will be denied treatment due to their attire,” he added.
On Feb 12, a woman was allegedly scolded by a medical worker for being "indecently dressed" while seeking treatment at the hospital at about 11pm.
On the hospital itself, Sivanesan said that it will receive one more haemodialysis machine and an X-ray unit.
He said that the haemodialysis machine costs RM40,000 and was donated by a private company.
“The same company donated two machines to Hospital Tapah and Teluk Intan. The haemodialysis machine is expected to arrive by March 28 while the X-ray unit will be in April,” he said after visiting the hospital here on Monday (Feb 20).
Sivanesan said that he had heard from Kampar Hospital director Dr Khairul Azhar at a briefing that the hospital has only eight haemodialysis machines and all are fully occupied.
Sivanesan added that he would also meet with the Perak Water Board (LAP) to discuss the hospital’s need to have a bigger water tank.
On the upcoming Budget scheduled for tabling this Friday (Feb 24), Sivanesan said that he hopes the Health Ministry will prioritise the development of the new Kampar Hospital.

“I have yet to get a chance to meet Dr Zaliha as she had to postpone our meeting twice. It is my hope that she will come and visit Kampar Hospital to see how crucial it is for us to have a new one,” said Sivanesan.
He added that the new hospital is set to be built on a 24.28ha land and equipped with at least 200 beds. - Star
