She said the complaints were mostly related to the steep prices of goods, the lack of supply and online purchases.
"The complaints we receive are usually related to the scarcity of items such as eggs and cooking oil in supermarkets and the expensive vegetable prices.
"So based on these complaints, the enforcement team will carry out inspections. This system will always be updated to make it more effective and efficient," she said at a press conference after the state-level Aduan Suri and Rahmah Sales Programme launching ceremony at Lotus's Desa Tebrau here tonight.
The Aduan Suri QR Code initiative was launched on Jan 12 and it allows consumers to lodge complaints directly via the WhatsApp application to the ministry by scanning the provided QR code.
Fuziah said the ministry would expand the initiative by placing the QR code in supermarkets and shops in addition to distributing fridge magnets with the code to the public.
Meanwhile, Fuziah said that last year, the ministry received a total of 29,265 complaints of which 13,755 were lodged by women through various platforms including the e-Aduan portal and the EzAdu application, adding that complaints over online transactions topped the list at 8,847, followed by prices of goods (7,259) and misleading services (6,095). -- Bernama
