Itinerary Cameron Highland 2025 4d 3n
So, confession time. I just got back from my Cameron Highland birthday trip that was supposed to be a chill, kid-free escape
And while it was amazing, it also reminded me that getting older means 23°C feels like the Arctic and menaiki tangga feels like I just ran a marathon apatah lagi climbing hill. Semput~! But hey, if not now, then when, right? With work, kids, and life doing its usual juggle, you gotta grab those moments of peace like they're the last slice of pizza.
The Great Escape: JB to Tanah Rata & Our Secret Weapon
My last visit to Cameron Highlands was way back in January 2021 during MCO. Ah, the good old days of empty roads and easy parking. This time? Mak aih, it was a long weekend which meant pretty much half of Malaysia decided to have the same brilliant idea. The roads were packed macam sardin.
We rolled into Tanah Rata on Friday, checked into the Heritage Hotel around 3 PM. Comfy rooms, panoramic views that make your heart sing, and it's super close to all the yummy food spots. Around 5 PM, our trusty scooter arrived at the hotel. After Asar prayers, we were off to the Pasar Malam – because what’s a trip without some local market vibes? Dinner was at Medan Selera Tanah Rata, where we devoured the BEST tomyam EVER at Gerai Zasiah (No. 8, you're welcome!). Harga? Affordable, harga biasa kedai tomyam je.
Day by Day: Tea, Strawberries, and More Tea!
Our days were packed, but in the best possible way.
Day 1:
Arrived Tanah Rata, checked into Heritage Hotel (Comfy! Great views! Near food!)Scooter delivery! 🛵 RM100/day (We rent for 3 days)Pasar Malam Cameron Highland Dinner at Medan Selera Tanah Rata – Gerai Zasiah (No. 8) for that legendary tomyam! - as per picture above.
Day 2:
We kicked off Saturday bright and early (or as early as my 30-something body allows after a long drive!) by heading up to BOH Tea Centre. The views there are just… Subhanallah. Absolutely breathtaking. Then it was a quick hop to the Bee Farm, followed by breakfast.
Next, a vital mission: strawberry collection at Raju's Hill Strawberry Farm 🍓(because, well, strawberries!). RM40 for 500gm. We hit KEA Farm for some more local goodies, and then for a delightful tea time, we went to Kampung Taman Sedia for tea, scones, and the most delicious waffle ice creams. YUM!
Later that day, we chilled at the hotel, then grabbed a cuppa at Starbucks Cameron Highland (yes, they have one!). Celebrating my post-birthday (Thank you sayang! 💖) Another trip to the Pasar Malam for more atmosphere, and a quick stop at Fuel Shack to tapaw food; emergency burgers because late-night hunger is real.
Day 3:
Sunday started with another visit to the Bee Farm, then off to Cameron Valley Tea House 2 (because you can never have too much tea in Cameron Highlands!). For animal lovers, the Cat House Cameron Highland and Cameron Highland Butterfly Farm were next. We wrapped up the day at Centrum, Cameron Highland, where we discovered the delightful Kopitiam Kopi Kaw Kaw.
Day 4:
Even though we initially planned for 3 days/2 nights, I had some extra leave, so we extended our getaway! This bonus day was purely for some extra healing and chilling. We revisited Kea Farm and, of course, had to go back to Centrum Cameron Highland for more of that yummy Kopitiam Kopi Kaw Kaw. When you find a good thing, you stick to it, right?
Foodie Heaven & The Reality Check
Seriously, food-wise, Cameron Highlands is a paradise. From local warungs to Medan Selera, you name it, they’ve got it. KFC, Kopi Kenangan, Papa Sushi, Old Town White Coffee, McDonald's, Fuel Shack, Burger King, Family Mart, MyNews, 7E, Indian, Mamak, Middle Eastern... even Guardian and Watsons for all your emergency needs. You definitely won’t go hungry.
Now, for the honest truth: I wasn't feeling 100% on this trip. Just got discharged from the ward, then a long drive, then all that walking... I was definitely not in my best shape. My body was like, "Are we really doing this, Suzlin?!" But, as I said, when else would I get this chance? Sometimes you just gotta push through for those precious moments of peace. 🥲
A Glimpse into Retirement Dreams
But despite the tired body and the chilly air (which apparently, I can't stand anymore – or probably atm); the best part, hands down, was renting that scooter. Again, sila sewa scooter. It completely transformed the experience. No more soul-crushing traffic or frantic parking hunts. Pure bliss. Nak kesini dan kesana sesuka hati.
As for the Heritage Hotel, I’d give it a solid 3.7 out of 5 stars. It was super comfy with amazing views, though there were a few minor defects and a bit of mold in the bathroom, under the sink (they do have a bathtub, though, which is a win!). My only suggestion for them? Embrace the local produce. Imagine breakfast featuring all those amazing Cameron Highlands fruits and veggies; from farm to fork. That would truly make you feel immersed kan?
All in all, it was a fantastic trip. When will I go back? Your guess is as good as mine. But sitting on that hotel balcony, sipping tea, munching on a butter scone with strawberry jam, makan instant noodle, no city noise, no work deadlines (shhh, and no kids – sorry, kiddos!), it felt like a sneak peek into retirement. Aduhai~ I don't want to come home. I want to retire now. Who’s with me?!
