It S About Annuar Musa Again
ANNUAR Musa attended the Barisan Nasional meeting last night amid calls by many, especially Umno members for him to relinquish the secretary-general post after series of bad disposition over his remarks about Umno in an interview last week.
However, nothing happened. Umno President/BN Chairman Zahid Hamidi, his deputy Mohamad Hasan, Treasurer Hishammuddin Hussein, MCA President Wee Ka Siong and others did not even discussed the matter. His critics were silenced!
It hasn't fizzled out. As at today, there are still voices and jottings ridiculing him for saying 'Umno perlu sedar diri... nak layanan macam mana lagi' (Umno must wake up, what kind of treatments do you expect?) when responding to the party's position in Perikatan Nasional government.
Zahid too, I believe, was bombarded with mounting pressure to take disciplinary action against him, including sacking the former Umno sec-gen. However, it was wisdom that kept Zahid from doing it.
Annuar even commented on my FB posting about 'makan gaji dalam Umno' (being under Umno's payroll) which makes me protective of the party, hence 'forcing' me from being critical of it. I just made believe that it was not meant for me because I sometimes criticised my party (especially some of its leaders too).
My take is, Annuar is right and wrong at the same time. Umno was the single largest party winning the most seats in the last general election. The only factor that denied it Putrajaya was the inability to get the right partners to resume its control. Umno in fact is getting stronger than before.
Its political collaboration with Pas is going for the better. On the ground, Umno-Pas activities are multiplied, Muafakat Nasional is being a threat to others and no way will Pas abandon MN and renegade the joint mission with Umno. Who say both parties will break ranks?
Annuar was accused of being PPBM spokesperson. His argument was that, should Pas quits MN, Umno will still can turn to PPBM as a Malay party, and as such it's vital to accept PPBM entry into Muafakat Nasional for the sake of Malay unity.
Agree, he got a point there. Maybe we can embrace PPBM but Umno and Pas as the pioneers of Perpaduan Ummah in September 2019 which later gave birth to MN, must be registered first. Pending on changes to PPBM's altitude towards Umno, MN should be registered with the Registrar of Society (RoS) anytime now since Perikatan Nasional (which came much later) is not a valid name.
Why the delay? Annuar should know better. Some say PPBM-led PN government is toying around with the registration as a way to frustrate Umno because Pas has became PN's component. Some even say there were bad intentions by some PPBM leaders to kill Umno and BN for good.
However, Annuar was right about Umno. Since losing the 14th GE, some parties in Umno haven't change. I think he was referring to the 'warlords' and factions within the party. These people should realise that to win the next GE, the party must embark on massive programs to wake them up and work solely for the people, instead of personal interest.
I believe Annuar meant this, that Umno must work hard, some of its leaders must focus on party's priorities and its re-engineering efforts.
Maybe Annuar was too downright that evening with PUMAS (Penerangan Umno Malaysia), and that sparked off heavy criticism. In his response to some Umno leaders, he was also being a little bit sarcastic.
I don't want to go lengthy. However, I believe his sacking from Umno will not bring any good to the party. I also want to believe that he is still very much Umno and will stay with it forever. As a senior, he (maybe) has waited long enough to say such things for the betterment of the party after observing its thicks-and-thins.
Some people comprehended it well, some didn't...
