Is Islamophobic Uk Mirror Image Of How Rightistist Majority Treats Minority Citizens In Malaysia
BEING a former British colony, it is inevitable that Malaysia and the UK share similarities in their government structures, legal systems and shared history.
One undesirable trend that has sprouted from this is perhaps the native supremacy mentality as per directed at Rukhsana Ismail who is the Rotherham mayor of Pakistani descent.
Apparently, far-right sites have been targeting Rukhsana as the ‘face’ of the so-called potential immigrant community uprising ‘to conquer the UK in the near future’ unless the power that be swiftly embarks on a counter-measure to curb the proliferating of especially Muslim influence.
“The Mayor of Rotherham speaking in a foreign tongue with foreign flags hanging behind her,” screamed nationalistic Basil the Great (@Basil_TGMD) whose post on X has garnered 1.4M views at the time of writing.
“How can anyone look at this and not think Britain is being colonised?
As expected, the post invited hate memes from like-minded commenters.

Even Rukhsana’s right to speak in Urdu which is her mother tongue to her community at the Sheffield Pakistan Muslim Centre (PMC) became a point of contention as this runs foul of the UK’s national language which is English.
“This is the Mayor of Rotherham Rukhsana Ismail speaking to constituents in England,” penned rightist Concerned Citizen (@BGatesIsaPyscho).
“Is it racist to expect elected officials to speak in the same language as the country she is employed by? Your great grandchildren will need to learn Arabic at this rate.”
Some even went as far as claiming that with “the daughters of Rotherham were raped on an industrial scale” by people from Rukhsana’s community, hence she “is an insult to every single child that was raped and abused”.
“Politics should be reserved for White Brits only!” demanded orthodox nationalist James Goddard (@JamesPGoddard90).
If this is insufficient to run down Rukhsana, the ruling Labour Party and Prime Minister Keir Starmer are not spared the rod for being lenient and seemingly condoning the appointment of non-whites (mostly Muslim Pakistani) mayors across the UK.
Thankfully, a handful of natives with right conscience has emerged to defend Rukhsana as evident in this post by writer and broadcaster Matthew Sweet who advised fellow white citizens against despairing given social media has been weaponised “as clickbait by racists who don’t check facts”.
“Rukhsana Ismail was born in Sheffield. She speaks English as well as you. To suggest otherwise, I’d suggest, is a libel against a distinguished public servant,” he countered.
“What more does a British-born public servant of Pakistani heritage have to do to satisfy someone like Bev (a far rightist) that they are not ‘colonising’ Britain?”
