Is Amanah Just Another Pas Pis Pus 2 0
Amanah should declare itself ‘post-Islamist’, say academics
AMANAH’S failure to chart a new narrative of political Islam is because it lacks structure and has not differentiated itself from PAS, said academics.
They told The Malaysian Insight that the Pakatan Harapan party should be brave enough to declare that it is “post-Islamist” so as to distinguish its ideology from PAS’.
“A post-Islamist party can assure the separation of powers, reject any form of religious- or gender-based discrimination, and voice out explicitly for pluralism and equality between men and women,” said Islamic Renaissance Front founder and executive director Dr Ahmad Farouk Musa.
“It can also defend the rights of minorities, whether they are Muslim minorities like Shias or minorities of different faiths.”
Although Amanah’s Dr Dzulkefly Ahmad had written substantially on the topic when he was in PAS, he is now “too busy” with his duties as health minister, said the Monash University Malaysia academic.
“It seems that Amanah has lost their intellectual leader, who could reformulate this new narrative of political Islam.
“We have not heard any of their leaders talking about post-Islamism, when this idea was one of the main reasons they were ousted from PAS.”
He said the whole idea of post-Islamism should be put forward as a fresh narrative to counter PAS’ Islamic state rhetoric.
“Post-Islamism is basically reconciling liberal democracy with Islam. Post-Islamism is the understanding and recognition that while religion may provide salvation in the afterlife, politics is what provides welfare in this one.”
Amanah’s weakness stems from its lack of a proper political structure at the grassroots level.
“For the Malay community in Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah, Pahang and other areas, politics is a daily affair.
“To penetrate this group, Amanah must build a strong structure at the branch level such as surau, and increase their social and community works to challenge the other parties.”
Although Amanah has introduced the “Rahmatan Lil Amin” (compassionate Islam) concept, Malay-Muslims still find it difficult to accept because it is complicated
“Amanah’s plans to push for moderate ideas became harder when the opposition, especially PAS, started labelling Amanah as a party that promotes liberal Islam, a concept that is hated by many Malay-Muslims.
“Hopefully, Amanah can strengthen this narrative with the RM10 million budget it received after the concept was approved by the Conference of Rulers and the cabinet.”
Farouk suggested that Amanah emulate Rachid Ghannouchi of Ennahda in Tunisia with regard to its stand on secularism.
“This is an acid test of whether Amanah really is a post-Islamist party.
“Amanah should be able to come out loud and clear that secularism is the protector of all beliefs and religions.
And, we need secularism in order for us to be true Muslims at heart in this century.” – January 15, 2020.
My comments :
Many of the Amanah guys were "life time" Pas members. Meaning before they joined Amanah they never belonged to any other party except Pas.
Once an ostard always an ostard. My view is the Amanah guys have never left their PAS indoctrination.
Especially the likes of Mujahid (whose father was among the founders of Pas) and also Khalid. The other person is Dr Dzul. They are all cut from the same cloth.
Otherwise why come out with strange ideas like rahmatan lil alameen?
Why strange ?Again these folks are confused.
In the Quran it is specifically mentioned that the Rasul is a rahmatan lil alameen.
Surah 21:107 -
وَ ما اَرْسَلْناکَ اِلاَّ رَحْمَهً لِلْعالَمِی
wa maa arsal naaka illa rahmatan lil alameen : and we have not sent you except as a mercy to the worlds
Allah swt has sent the Rasul as a rahmatan lil alameen or a mercy for the worlds.
So maybe the Amanah folks think that they too are up to the task. They too can be a rahmatan lil alameen for the entire world.Rahmatan lil alameen - a mercy for the worlds. Wow !!
But who chose this particular group to be a 'rahmatan lil alameen'?They chose themselves? They sent themselves?
Imagine this : "Syed Akbar Ali rahmatan lil alameen" !! Syed Akbar Ali the mercy for the worlds !!Wow !!
This is typical ostard behaviour. Duduk dalam bakul dan angkat sendiri.
They like to elevate themselves with these grandiose titles.
Not to be left out the shias have the AYATOLLAH. Do you know what ayatollah means? It is made up of two words 'ayat' and 'Allah'. Ayat means a sign. Hence ayatollah means 'Allah's sign' or a 'sign from Allah'.Wow!
Imagine 'Ayatollah Syed Akbar Ali'. Which literally means 'Syed Akbar Ali the Sign from Allah' !! Wow !!
The other one of my favourites is Maulana. Some ostards call themselves Maulana. This is very common in India, Bangla and Pakistan.
Ya maulana! Maulana Fazlul Kareem, Maulana Afzalur Rahman etc.
Maulana means "protector". In the Quran, Allah swt is referred to as our 'maulana' or 'protector' .
Surah 9:51
huwa maulana - 'He is our protector'
So Allah is our protector. Not any ostard.
But these ostards call themselves 'maulana'. Again duduk dalam bakul angkat sendiri.
Imagine this "Maulana Syed Akbar Ali" !! Syed Akbar Ali our Protector !!Wow !
Duduk dalam bakul angkat sendiri again.Once an ostard always an ostard.Posted by Syed Akbar Ali
