Ipoh Cops Call Indira Gandhi To Explain Claim Groups Shielding Ex Hubby

(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA:  M Indira Gandhi was called in by the police in Ipoh today to clarify her allegations that followers of Muslim preacher Dr Zakir Naik are helping her former husband, Muhammad Riduan Abdullah, to hide their daughter
She said she was asked to give a statement after she lodged a police report here yesterday
“I was called this morning for about 40 minutes. They wanted to know more about my police report,” she told FMT
In her police report lodged at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters, Indira said she suspected PAS-friendly NGOs, southern Thailand separatists and “Mualaf” followers of Naik of being involved in protecting Riduan
She said she had received a call several days ago suggesting that Riduan was being given protection by these groups and “mualaf” who were inspired by Naik and his teachings
She said her police report was based on the call and various other reports she had received from the Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat)
She said that based on the team’s research, Riduan had renewed his driving licence in Penang last November and was driving a Mercedes-Benz
“How can he afford a luxury car if he does not have any bank account and if he is not working?” she asked, adding that she had informed the police on this matter
Indira said Ingat had also informed her that Riduan was married to a woman in Kelantan and has three children from his second marriage
She said she had lodged the report stating that “someone big was protecting and giving him money to feed his children and drive a Mercedes”
She also said the group was not targeting Naik but wanted anyone with information of the whereabouts of her daughter to come forward. - FMT
