In Klang Muslims March From Funeral Prayers To Demand Justice For Adib

(MMO) – Hundreds of Muslims have gathered here to demand justice for the late firemen Muhammad Adib Mohd Kassim, who perished due to injuries sustained during the Sri Maha Mariamman Temple riot last month.
They also want Senator P. Waytha Moorthy voluntarily relinquish his position as minister of national unity and social wellbeing, for failing to prevent the riot.
Organised by the Gerakan Rakyat Malaysia (Geras), some 500 people marched from the Masjid Bandar Diraja Klang to Art Square some 500 metres away.
At the mosque earlier, the group performed a “solat jenazah ghaib” (funeral prayer in absentia) for Adib before Asar prayers.
Dressed in black and carrying placards with messages like “Justice for Adib”, the participants chanted “Allahuakhbar” as they marched towards the square.

“We want those responsible for his death brought to justice. We will not rest until all those who are responsible are caught,” he said to a roaring crowd.
He also said the government should sack Waytha Moorthy within the next 40 days.
The group also demanded that Human Resource Minister M. Kulasegaran and Selangor State Executive Councilor V. Ganabatirau be sacked as well over “divisive” and “hurtful” statements following the temple riot.
“We urge the government to remind the coming generations of the social contract that was agreed upon during independence and asked any parties not to insult Islam due its special status in the constitution,” he said.
Geras also demanded local authorities to take action based on the rule of law against any shrines and temple which were built illegally.
Coalition of Peninsula Malay Students (GPMS) President Zamri Mohd Isa, who also spoke at the rally, urged the police not to be afraid in conducting their duties in apprehending those responsible for Adib’s death.
“We know the police have been made a political tool by some and their hands tied over the issue.
“But don’t worry, if you are the investigating officer for the case, and you find yourself suddenly without a job for only doing what you have been tasked to do, we will back you up,” he said.
