Igp Orders Cops To Use Discretion On Inter State Travel Over Next 3 Days

Police have been told to use discretion and allow those trapped outstation to return home on or before Friday.KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Abdul Hamid Bador says his officers will use their discretion to allow people permission to return to their respective homes in the first three days of the movement control order (MCO).
“I understand many families who are outside the area they live in may be trapped tomorrow.
“I have issued an order that from the first to the third day (of the MCO), officers are to use their discretion as much as possible to allow those trapped outstation to return home,” he said during a press conference in Bukit Aman.
He said this also applies to individuals who plan on returning home via public transport.
“This includes those who have already booked flight tickets and want to travel via KLIA. The same goes for other public transport modes.”
Selangor, Penang, Melaka, Johor, Sabah and the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur, Labuan, and Putrajaya are set to go under a 14-day MCO from tomorrow, with inter-state travel banned across the country.
A conditional MCO (CMCO) will be imposed in Pahang, Perak, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Terengganu and Kelantan while Perlis and Sarawak will be under a recovery MCO (RMCO).
In light of the MCO and travel restrictions, Hamid said leave has been immediately frozen for all police officers and staff so as to ensure people comply with the relevant SOPs during the period. - FMT
