Igp Claims Cartel Within Police Force Out To Topple Him Report
Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador revealed that there is a movement consisting of young police officers within the force conspiring to get rid of him.
Hamid said the cartel's ambition is to dominate the police force for their personal interest.
"There have been attempts from this group (cartel) to humiliate and bring me down.
"So my advice to them, stop this disgusting behaviour and please realise that this force is not ours, and it's not a playing field," he said in a broadcast interview with Sinar Harian yesterday.
Hamid was asked about a certain revelation that there's a movement to control the police force to allow them to carry out "dirty works".
Explaining further, the top cop said he was moved by the matter and hoped those who conspired against him to repent.
"These officers, they gathered and discussed something... to find ways to get their colleagues to rise together with them and they discussed bad things.
"So I ask them to repent. When you are 60, you will hang your blue uniform.
"Nobody will be afraid of you, and at that time, I hope you don't regret," he added.
Hamid has been dedicated to removing bad apples from the police force since he took the helm in May 2019.
There were numerous arrests against his own men who were involved in corruption and drug abuse.
Last year alone, 327 police officers and personnel were hauled, but according to Bukit Aman Narcotics CID director Razarudin Husain, the figure was lower as compared to 566 cops arrested in 2019. - Mkini
