If Hannah Yeoh Can Be Mistaken As Ytl S Daughter Yeo Bee Yin Will Soon Become Michelle Yeoh S
PAS has done it again. In the party’s infinite wisdom and unparalleled talent for connecting imaginary dots, Perak PAS Commissioner Razman Zakaria has claimed that Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh is the daughter of YTL Corp’s late founder Tan Sri Yeoh Tiong Lay.
How he came to the conclusion was beyond comprehension. But there’s a likelihood that he assumed the lineage by virtue of both sharing the same surname.
PAS needs to know not all Yeohs are related. https://t.co/HUHRcs74Ul

Editor’s Note: The Perak PAS commissioner has since apologised for his misleading claim although he expressed disappointment that the media chose to harp on his mention of Hannah Yeoh which only made up not more than 10 seconds of his half-hourly speech at the Program Gerak Muafakat Perak.
By Razman’s logic, it’s only a matter of time before DAP’s Puchong MP Yeo Bee Yin is accused of being Hollywood megastar Tan Sri Michelle Yeoh’s daughter. After all, they’re both women of Chinese descent with “Yeo” in their names.
Throw in some dramatic music, a grainy Facebook video, a healthy dose of misplaced outrage and voilà – a new conspiracy is born!
Whether this is a compliment or insult, Hannah Yeoh has since dismissed Razman’s baseless claim.
Her curt response on X that “PAS needs to know not all Yeohs are related” was followed by her private secretary’s equally biting comment that “PAS people are too lazy to read.”
This isn’t just about surnames anymore as commenters aplenty rallied both the DAP lawmaker and YTL Corp to sue the Gunung Semanggol state assemblyman and opposition leader in the Perak State Legislative Assembly “big time till his pants drop/become bankrupt” given he is prone to slander, falsehood and calumny.
Many other possibilities
Against the backdrop of Kepala Batas MP Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad having burnt a RM825,000 hole in her pocket after losing a defamatory suit to DAP’s powerful trio of Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Teresa Kok, it’s about the sheer audacity of making wild claims without an ounce of research.
The case stemmed from the audacity of not willing to retract her statement or apologise for allegedly linking retired supremo Kit Siang, party chairman Gian Eng and Seputeh MP/DAP vice-chairman Kok to Communist Party of Malaysia (PKM) leader Chin Peng and the late former Singapore premier Lee Kuan Yew.
Bluntly put it, who needs Google or common sense when one already has an agenda in mind to push?
Let’s entertain the possibilities for a moment. If Razman can mistake Hannah Yeoh for Yeoh Tiong Lay’s daughter, perhaps PAS could expand its cinematic universe of misinformation.
Who knows one day, party leaders would claim that DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke is the son of Hollywood star Anthony Hopkins or that Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman could be linked to tycoon Tan Sri Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary.
Far-fetched? So, while we wait for Yeo Bee Yin to be labelled Michelle Yeoh’s long-lost daughter – or maybe for someone to “expose” that PMX Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is secretly related to maverick ex-MP Datuk Ibrahim Ali – let’s take a moment to appreciate the absurdity.
In the age of misinformation, some accusations are so outlandish that they deserve nothing but sarcasm in response. – Focus Malaysia
