Hemline Hiccup Woman Denied Entry To Police Station After Being Told Not Wearing Proper Attire

(MSN News) – A young woman was not allowed to make a police report at the Gombak police station for wearing a skirt and a blouse that were deemed inappropriate.
The woman’s father, who only wanted to be known as Zahid, said the incident occurred last month after his daughter was involved in a minor car accident along the Middle Ring Road 2 (MRR2) near Batu Caves.
“Both parties in the accident agreed to make a police report at the Gombak police station, but she was not allowed to enter the station by two police guards due to her dressing.
“She was asked to wear ‘proper attire’ before being allowed to make the report,” he said.
Zahid was disappointed that his daughter was denied police services despite wearing a skirt that was below knee level and a jacket covering her shoulders. “She called me to bring her a pair of long pants and only then was she allowed to make the report,” he said.
Zahid is frustrated that the public is facing unnecessary hassles when making police reports and would like the authorities to clearly state the “proper” women’s dress code when entering any government office.
“Our elected representatives should bring up a standardised dress code in Parliament for people entering any government property across the board,” he said.
On Saturday (March 11), another case of “inappropriate dressing” was reported at a government building in Ipoh with a woman being barred from entering the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM) office.
