Kelantan Not Sidelined Nga Assures Mb At Joint Function
Opposition-led states including Kelantan will not be sidelined from any federal development projects, said Local Government Development Minister Nga Kor Ming at a function today.
Also present was Kelantan menteri besar Ahmad Yakob.
In his speech to launch Pasar Tok Kenali in Kota Baru, Nga said Kelantan has been lucky to receive RM351.1 million additional allocations under Budget 2023.
He also said the additional amount has increased Kelantan's total allocation for development and other assistance to RM2.5 billion this year.
"This clearly proves that Kelantan, Terengganu, Kedah and Perlis collectively received RM6.2 billion in allocation, and are not sidelined.
"Under Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim's Madani administration, Kelantan has in no way been treated like a stepchild," said Nga.
Commenting on the Tok Kenali market, Nga said renovation work on the existing 1.38-hectare area involved RM4 million in costs.
"Construction started on Sept 17, 2020, and was completed in August last year. Its physical renovation includes the construction of a daily market with 29 stalls and one storage room.
"This project will benefit 90 local traders, helping to upgrade their income and socio-economic standards," he added.
At a press conference later, Nga stressed that his presence in Kelantan was a sign of the federal government's "caring touch" for the state.
"This is the federal government's caring touch. And ultimately, I stress that under the present administration, all states will be treated fairly, none will be sidelined or oppressed.
"So if there are claims that Kelantan has been sidelined, that is not true at all," he said. - Mkini
