She told the press that any decision made regarding preventive measures, such as restricting entry to foreign travellers, must be a "joint decision" by all relevant ministries and agencies.
"These decisions involve national security, the safety of citizens, the nation's economy and so on, so we must also get the input of our colleagues from other ministries," she said after visiting the Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (KLIA2) here to oversee new restrictions for foreign arrivals.
Dr Zaliha said after her visits to the Crisis Preparedness and Response Centre and to KLIA 2 today, she was satisfied with her ministry’s current “preparedness” level.
“Malaysians must be concerned and take note of the Health Ministry’s (MoH) recommendations and make sure that we as citizens follow those recommendations.
“Before we want to impose on others, we ourselves must have a responsibility, “ she said, before reiterating her ministry’s advice for Malaysians to take their Covid-19 vaccine booster shots.
Yesterday, Dr Zaliha said that MoH was prepared to tighten standard operating procedures (SOP) for health checks at the nation’s borders if necessary, in lieu of rising Covid-19 cases in China.
China’s government had decided to relax its strict “zero Covid” policy early last month after it reportedly became concerned that the rules were taking too big a toll on the country’s economy. - malaymail
