Harapan Allies Say No Issue With Rafizi S Pkr Comeback
Pakatan Harapan allies have indicated that they have no issue with PKR vice-president Rafizi Ramli returning to active politics and possibly contesting in the upcoming party polls in April.
This was after Rafizi (above) said he was weighing his options and suggested that the PKR leadership, as well as its Harapan allies, won't be comfortable with his radical approach.
Amanah vice-president Mujahid Yusof Rawa said his party supported anyone that can advance the goal of a strong government formed based on integrity and anti-corruption.
"Amanah's goal has always been to see a Malaysia that is free from corruption, racial sentiment and religious hatred and based upon integrity.
"Therefore, anyone who can advance that goal, including Rafizi, is very welcomed," he told Malaysiakini.
Meanwhile, DAP national organising secretary Anthony Loke indicated his party didn't have a position on the matter as it did not want to be seen as interfering in their allies' affairs.
"Whether or not he contests in PKR is entirely up to him. That's an internal issue and has nothing to do with the DAP or Amanah. We hope not to be dragged into PKR's internal issues.
"In any internal party election, there is no interference from other parties. Like DAP, other parties also cannot interfere (in our election)," he told Malaysiakini.
DAP is set to hold its own party polls in March while PKR will elect its new leadership in April.
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim has not addressed Rafizi's possible comeback but had promised to address the matter at a later date.
Rafizi has been critical of Anwar's leadership, cautioning him not to allow the emergence of another “cartel” in PKR that led to the Sheraton Move - a series of defections that brought down the Harapan government.
The former Pandan MP, who is speculated to consider another run for the deputy president position in PKR, had said some may not like his return.
“I have to be realistic that I am very radical in my thinking, that most of the leadership of PKR and its allies will not feel comfortable with my approach and ideas,” he had said. -Mkini
