(PAS pic)PETALING JAYA: PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has reiterated that Anwar Ibrahim’s unity government is unstable for lacking a parliamentary majority, and advised his party to be patient.
Hadi added that Anwar’s cabinet included those whom Pakatan Harapan had previously described as “thieves and robbers”.
“Let’s be patient. This is a test that Allah is bringing upon us,” he said in a Facebook post today.
His comments come after Cabinet members took their oaths of office, including Umno president and Barisan Nasional chairman Ahmad Zahid Hamidi as one of two deputy prime ministers.
Hadi advised PAS members to heed the example of Prophet Muhammad’s struggles to enter Mecca.
He said the Prophet had received a revelation about taking control of Mecca but was tested when his path to the city was blocked; it was only after several years that he finally managed to enter the city and free it from the control of polytheists.
“Let us take an example from the struggles of the Prophet in our efforts to uphold Islamic sharia in Malaysia,” he said.
Hadi, whose party is part of Perikatan Nasional, has made several remarks on social media criticising Anwar’s unity government.
Last week, PH filed a police report over remarks by Hadi when he had made a cryptic comment of a football referee providing “extra time for the losing side” after the match was over.
PH claimed that the quotation, from a column Hadi wrote for the party organ Harakah, was taken to be a reference to the formation of a unity government. - FMT
