Hadi Pas Wants New Spirit For Kelantan With Change Of Leadership
STATE POLLS | PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang today said his party is looking for a "new spirit" in Kelantan through its move to change the state's leadership if it once again formed the government after the state election.
Speaking to reporters at SK Rusila, Terengganu, Hadi, who earlier cast his vote, revealed that caretaker Kelantan menteri besar Ahmad Yakob's request to step down was made due to health reasons.
"He (Ahmad) stepped down because of health reasons. Even before this, he had requested to not be appointed, but we insisted.
"Several times he has received treatments in hospital. So this time, we considered his request. Pity him.
"We want to have a new spirit in Kelantan, that's why we are also changing the deputy," he said.
Hadi (above) also denied there were other issues that had led to the proposed change, subject to the outcome of today's election and royal assent from the Kelantan sultan.
Mohd Amar Nik AbdullahAmid speculations that Kelantan caretaker deputy menteri besar Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah will replace Ahmad, there were quarters within PAS seen to mobilise support against the incumbent Panchor assemblyperson who is defending his seat for the fifth term.
This triggered concerns about the possible impact on support for PAS and Perikatan Nasional in Kelantan.
PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan on Thursday said the party's central leaders at its last meeting before polling day has decided to change both Kelantan's menteri besar and deputy menteri besar.
Earlier today, Amar said he will accept PAS' decision to change the state’s leadership and go back to being an ordinary assemblyperson if he wins. - Mkini
