Hadi Pas Choosing Between Umno And Bersatu Will Cause Imperfect Politics
PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang has alluded that the party prefers to stick to its stance of facing the 15th general election (GE15) together with Umno and Bersatu.
The Marang MP pointed out that an ummah unity limited to PAS with Umno, or PAS with Bersatu, would be "imperfect" politics.
"The party should take a cue from the 'Sunnah Nabawiyyah’, which begins with the unity of Muslims leading, by gathering all Muslim groups from various congregations or parties.
"Then, joined by non-Islamic groups that are not extreme in the context of a pluralistic society," he said on Facebook.
Elaborating, Hadi said the Islamic groups do not mean just PAS and Umno, or PAS and Bersatu, without others.
"If there is only PAS and Umno or only PAS and Bersatu, then it does not fulfil the characteristics of the unity of the people and translates into limited and imperfect politics.
“If there are no non-Muslim groups that are not extreme, then the message of Islam being fair to all mankind will not be delivered," he added.
With the statement, Hadi seems to be steadfast in joining forces with both Umno and Bersatu for the upcoming polls.
This is despite Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin saying that the party cannot work with Umno.
Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and Umno president Ahmad Zahid HamidiUmno, on the other hand, has stood by its decision to not cooperate with Bersatu in GE15.
It is worth noting that Hadi had separate meetings with Muhyiddin and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, and PAS is expected to finalise the decision on the matter next week.
On claims that PAS plays in "all pools" by not settling on a side to work with for the election, Hadi said: "PAS enters all ponds, except ponds with many crocodiles or poisonous animals." - Mkini
