Govt To Set Up Drive Through Systems In Addition To Vaccination Centres Kj

Besides vaccine centres set up by the government, members of the public may choose to receive their vaccines at private clinics or using drive-through systems.
Minister in charge of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP) Khairy Jamaluddin said the government has decided to set up more mega vaccination centres (PPVs) and rope in thousands of private doctors into the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme next month.
A total of five mega vaccination centres will be set up in Klang Valley from June 7 onward, he said.
This included the Mines Convention Centre, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Puncak Alam branch, Setia City Convention Centre, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Bukit Jalil National Stadium.
“Next week, I will go to Penang to discuss the establishment of vaccination centres there. After that, I will go to Johor for the same purpose,” he told a press conference after visiting the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) vaccination site today.
He also announced that a total 2,500 private general practitioners have registered to provide Covid-19 vaccination and 1,800 of them underwent training for that purpose.

“We are targeting 500 general practitioners to start providing vaccines from June 15 and 1,000 private clinics can be made vaccination centres before June 30,” he said.

“With this, we are targeting the private general practitioners and private hospitals that can provide 40,000 jabs a day by the end of June,” added Khairy.
Meanwhile, he said the government had also agreed to provide vaccines at drive-through locations.
This came after the success of a pilot project for drive-through vaccinations at Universiti Sains Malaysia in Kubang Kerian.

Khairy, however, said the government will issue standard operating procedures on the drive-through vaccination locations.
The SOP will also spell out the observation procedure which is required after the vaccination process, he said.
In another development, the science, technology and innovation minister also announced a new feature that will be added to the MySejahtera app where the people can cancel and reschedule their vaccination appointment soon.
Many who registered for vaccination were frustrated that their appointments had been changed or pushed back without reason.
These include being sent to another state for vaccination and being unable to get through the Special Committee On Covid-19 Vaccine Supply’s (JKJAV) hotline for help. -  Mkini
