Govt Parties Should Resolve Disputes Not Issue Ultimatums
MP SPEAKS | I would like to remind all coalition government parties that the best way forward is to have frank and respectful discussions behind closed doors.
There is no need to have petty spats, unseemly disputes, and even melodramatic ultimatums played out in the media when we can come to the table and negotiate.
There are many parties in the Madani government, and while we are not perfect, we have to focus on doing a good job to bring about benefits and developments for the people.
Disagreements are part and parcel of daily life, and even within the same political party, we might have opposing views.
Talk has emerged of MIC re-evaluating its position because it feels sidelined in the government. Others have taken shots at government allocations and the use of the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) funds.

As a unity government, we should try to find a common ground that can help the people we are supposed to serve, instead of squabbling for positions.
A lesson can also be learnt from some former government leaders and governing parties who have thrown in their lot with the PAS-dominated opposition coalition only to find themselves sidelined and facing political oblivion.
We are not perfect, but we are trying to accomplish something better for future generations.
All coalition members should discuss disputes, solve them, and keep moving forward. - Mkini
