Girl in the Walls is a story of overcoming grief, of unconventional friendships and learning that we shouldn’t always fear what we don’t understand. It is about understanding the difference between a house and a home and what it means to lose both.
She doesn’t exist. She can’t exist.
Elise knows every inch of the house. She knows which boards will creak. She knows where the gaps are in the walls. She knows which parts can take her in, hide her away. It’s home, after all. The home her parents made for her. And home is where you stay, no matter what.
Eddie is a teenager now, almost a grown-up. He must no longer believe in the girl he sometimes sees our of the corner of his eye. He needs her to disappear. But when his fierce older brother senses her, too, they are faced with the question of how to get rid of someone they aren’t sure even exists.
And, if they cast her out, what other threats might they invite into their home?
A girl live in the same house with you but you couldn't see her yet you did heard something and you items missing/scattered around the house? What would you feel? How will you response to that?
Girl in the walls is divided into 5 parts. I was enthralled by the story that I keep going on and on and I'm reading it in just less than 2 days because I need to know what would the family response to the girl? What are their action to it. Honestly, for the first part it was quite slow yet interesting like you want to know how the girls end up live in the walls, right? It does creep me out thinking that someone might live inside our walls. I have no idea what would I do. Have you ever heard footsteps in your house in the middle of the night when you know everyone is already sleep? Well, I do but most of the time I ignore it but there are times I just go and check it out. In case.
Anyway, Girl in the walls is about the girl who become orphan after a tragically accident happened and killed her parents. She has been sent to live with other family however she doesn't like it and she goes back to her parents' house and live there in hiding inside the walls and she has to be careful on the account of not being detected by the family who live in that house.
The story I find it intriguing, vivid, not really that creepy instead make me curious on Elise; is she is a she or an it? Kinda makes me emotional and tragic knowing what is actually happened with Elise's life. It is a slow pace, a few part is a bit confusing but the short chapter makes it easier to go through the story.
It was actually a unique story, beautifully written however I couldn't sense the suspense/thriller aspect in it but that doesn't means anything, okay. I just want to point that out. I do feel something is a lack in here although I'm not sure how to put that into words, it just that is what I felt. Nevertheless, it was pretty much a good read.
